The DXCache folder gets wiped too for whatever reason but I tend to delete that regularly anyway or well I keep track of which game adds which file and then when said game is updated I delete the old file making sure it caches the latest shader data. It can be useful for troubleshooting purposes or cleaning up files from very old drivers that are no longer used by the newer ones (Or even old software bundled with the driver, I think Raptr was removed from it recently to name one.) though I personally just install the driver over the old one which will uninstall that driver and a few other things but retain registry settings and external config files. What is a recommended version to stick with for now? I've seen a lot of people complaining about the latest one. Third: My AMD radeon settings version is 16.12.1 and I'm not sure if I should update, stick with what I have or fall back. If that's so I don't need to follow the above link and uninstall process correct? Second: I read on the front page of this thread that you do not need to uninstall the driver before using DDU. It also doesn't look the same when you get into the uninstall/change part of it and instead looks like this: puu.sh/tFQgs/224c7f1343.jpgĪlso in the above picture there is a clean uninstall option and I'm unsure if it's reliable or if I would still need to use DDU. I'm just wondering if everything is still the same with that or not since it's not called Radeon Install Manager anymore, or at least on my computer it isn't, and is instead called Radeon Software.
Hello, I just stumbled upon DDU while looking to see how and if I should properly do a clean uninstall and reinstall of AMD radeon settings after seeing this post ( /message/2651273 ) from almost a year ago and I just wondered if someone could answer a few questions for me.įirst: In the link above it mentions computers with Intel processors should select and uninstall everything while those with AMD processors should only uninstall the AMD Display Driver after clicking on uninstall under the Uninstall or change a program section.
